Boston police arrest suspect in early morning shooting

BOSTON — Officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested a suspect on multiple firearm charges following an early morning shooting Tuesday.

At about 9:25 a.m., officers responded to the area of Dudley Street and Putnam Street for a report of shots fired.

Boston Police Operations provided a description of the suspect and his direction of flight.

Two officers working a paid detail in the area saw an individual matching the suspect’s description running toward Bartlett Street.

A foot pursuit ensued, and with assistance from responding officers, the suspect was taken into custody.

Police identified the suspect as Keon Boggs, 42, of Boston.

Officers recovered a Taurus 709 firearm from Boggs’ right pant pocket, a box containing sixteen rounds of ammunition from his left pant pocket, and two spent shell casings from his coat pocket.

The firearm had one round in the chamber and three rounds in the magazine.

Officers also observed ballistic damage to a vehicle in the area of 7 Dudley St.

A search of the area did not locate any victims.

Boggs was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of a firearm subsequent offense, unlawful possession of ammunition, and several other firearm-related offenses.

He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
