BOSTON — A 14-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly attacking four people in Allston, police said.

Officers assigned to District D-14 responded about 3:24 p.m. to the area of Cambridge Street and Gordon Street for reports of an assault and battery in progress, according to the Boston Police Department.

Dispatchers informed officers that a group of about 12 juveniles was attacking three individuals.

When officers arrived, they were flagged down by a fourth victim, who told them the suspects had fled toward Brighton Avenue.

Three of the victims had stopped one of the suspects believed to have instigated the fight, police said.

Officers determined the involvement of the 14-year-old suspect and placed him in handcuffs.

The remaining juveniles had fled before police arrived.

According to police, the group of juveniles had been walking past a store and threw a firecracker at the front entrance.

One victim confronted the group and began recording them with his phone, at which point the suspect allegedly knocked the phone from his hands and began to assault him.

Three others attempted to intervene, but the suspect allegedly pushed them to the ground.

Police said the suspect then took a broom from one of the victims and hit them before punching and kicking them multiple times.

All four victims declined medical treatment.

The teenager was arrested and charged with three counts of assault and battery on a person over 60, four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, and malicious destruction of property, police said.

He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
