TUXEDO — Troopers from SP Tarrytown arrested a Bronx man and a Utica man on gun possession charges Saturday on Interstate 87 in the town of Tuxedo.
At approximately 4 p.m., troopers stopped a 2023 gray Honda sedan for vehicle and traffic law violations on the New York State Thruway.
An investigation determined the driver, Jamar Mikel Sanders, 20, and the passenger, Zaquan Clark, 28, were in possession of a loaded Taurus G2 handgun.
Both men were arrested and charged with criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C felony.
They were arraigned before Judge Keith Garley as part of the Orange County centralized arraignment agreement in Goshen.
Bail was set for Sanders at $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond, or $20,000 partially secured bond.
Clark was remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail due to prior convictions.
They are scheduled to reappear before the Town of Tuxedo Court at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
