SOUTH WINDSOR — Police arrested two men in separate cases involving larceny and reckless driving, authorities said Monday.

David A. Fonda, 41, of Rocky Hill, was arrested Friday at 10:30 p.m. on an active warrant related to a Jan. 31 larceny investigation at Target on Buckland Hills Drive, police said.

Fonda was identified as the individual who stole about $1,099.97 worth of merchandise, police said.

He was taken into custody by North Haven police and transferred to South Windsor police, where he was processed and released on a $5,000 surety bond.

He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on March 12 at 9 a.m.

In a separate case, Jacob R. Brown, 21, of Ellington, was arrested Saturday at 5:10 p.m. on charges of reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit and two counts of evading responsibility, police said.

Brown was seen driving northbound on Buckland Road in a reckless manner, weaving through traffic, police said.

While an officer attempted a traffic stop, Brown struck a vehicle at the intersection of Buckland Road and Deming Street and fled the scene, police said.

He then struck a second vehicle near the intersection of Sullivan Avenue and Ellington Road, police said.

No injuries were reported in either crash, police said.

Brown and his vehicle were identified, and he turned himself in a short time later, police said.

He was processed and released on a $2,500 non-surety bond.

He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on March 10.
