NORTHUMBERLAND — A 26-year-old fugitive from Vermont was taken into custody late Saturday night after fleeing from police and leading officers on a search through woods, snow, and wetlands, authorities said.

The Northumberland Police Department attempted to initiate contact with a suspicious individual in the area of Deanbrook Drive and Lancaster Road at 11:30 p.m.

The man, later identified as Parker Lovell, immediately fled the area upon the arrival of police, according to a police statement.

After an extensive search, Lovell was located and taken into custody.

Police said Lovell was wanted in Vermont for a probation violation.

He had previously been convicted of first-degree aggravated domestic assault and second-degree unlawful restraint, which resulted in his probation.

His arrest warrant did not allow him the opportunity for bail, according to authorities.

Lovell was processed at the Northumberland Police Department and charged with fugitive from justice under RSA 612:14.

He was transported to the Coos County House of Corrections pending a bail hearing.

Northumberland police were assisted in the arrest by the Lancaster Police Department.
