BETHEL — A Royalton man was arrested late Sunday after a traffic stop led authorities to discover he had allegedly violated an abuse prevention order and his court-ordered conditions of release, police said.
Vermont State Police said troopers stopped a vehicle at about 10:12 p.m. on Royalton Hill Road after observing a motor vehicle violation.
The driver, identified as Anthony J. Salls, 58, of Royalton, showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said.
Investigators later determined that Salls was a person of interest in an abuse prevention order violation case from earlier in the evening.
Police said he violated his order by making contact with a protected party and also violated his conditions of release.
Salls was transported to the Royalton Barracks for processing.
He was issued court orders and a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court in Windsor at 12:30 p.m. Monday.
Salls was later taken to the Southern State Correctional Facility, where he was lodged, police said.
