MALTA — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to an active domestic incident call on Lakeside Avenue in the town of Malta on Saturday at 10:42 a.m.
Following an investigation, deputies arrested Jerrid J. Harpster, 26, of Malta, on multiple charges: aggravated criminal contempt (class D felony), aggravated family offense (class E felony), assault in the third degree (class A misdemeanor), and criminal tampering in the third degree (class B misdemeanor).
Harpster is accused of intentionally causing physical injury to another person in violation of a court order of protection.
Authorities say he allegedly punched the victim in the face and ear.
He is also accused of committing a specified offense under the statute, having previously been convicted of a similar offense within the past five years.
Additionally, he allegedly tampered with the victim’s property by spraying hand sanitizer lotion on their jacket.
Harpster was arraigned before Malta Town Court Judge Ellwood A. Sloat Jr. and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail pending further court proceedings.
