Cortlandville man charged with two counts of petit larceny

CORTLANDVILLE — A Cortland man was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with two counts of petit larceny after allegedly stealing merchandise from two stores, authorities said.

Deputies from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 12:32 p.m. to Walmart at 819 Bennie Road for a larceny complaint, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

An investigation determined that the suspect, Napoleon N. Tetreault, 57, had stolen merchandise from the store, officials said.

Further investigation revealed he had also stolen merchandise from JCPenney at 854 Route 13, deputies said.

Tetreault was taken into custody and transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, where he was processed and released on appearance tickets, authorities said.

He is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Cortlandville Town Court at 1 p.m. March 3.
