COHASSET — At approximately 3:55 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23, multiple 911 calls were received reporting a motor vehicle crash on Chief Justice Cushing Highway (Route 3A).
The incident involved five vehicles near the Pond Street intersection.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene to find one vehicle off the roadway, in the woods, with a person trapped inside.

The incident commander from the Cohasset Fire Department called for mutual aid ambulances from the Hull and Scituate fire departments to assist the victims.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 49-year-old man from Cohasset was traveling south on Route 3A when he suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel and lost control of his SUV.
Route 3A was closed in both directions for two hours while investigators from the Cohasset Police Department reconstructed the crash.
A request for a medical evaluation has been submitted to the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles regarding the driver who suffered the medical emergency.
The crash remains under investigation.
