ST. JOHNSBURY — Police arrested a local man Friday night after finding his truck abandoned in a snowbank and later locating him attempting to enter a closed business while intoxicated.
At approximately 8:12 p.m., St. Johnsbury police responded to the intersection of Main Street and Maple Street for a report of a truck stuck in a snowbank.
Officers arrived to find the vehicle unoccupied, with a half-full bottle of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey whiskey and several empty beer cans inside.
Shortly after, police received a report of an intoxicated man attempting to gain entry into the American Legion, which was closed at the time.
Officers located Charles Richardson, 58, and determined he was the owner and driver of the abandoned truck.
Richardson was arrested and charged with his fourth DUI, test refusal, and driving with a suspended license for a prior DUI offense.
He was also found to have an active felony DUI warrant from Washington County.
He was lodged at the Northeast Regional Correctional Center for lack of $200 bail and is scheduled to appear in Caledonia Court on March 31 at 8:30 a.m.
