DERBY — A 37-year-old man with ties to Orleans County was arrested on drug charges and an active warrant after Vermont State Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at the Derby dog park on February 23.
At approximately 11:00 a.m., troopers arrived at the dog park on 4H Road and identified one of the vehicle’s occupants as George Mitchell, who was known to have an active $500 bail failure-to-appear warrant in Essex County for an original charge of larceny.
Mitchell was taken into custody, and during the arrest, troopers observed indicators of narcotics activity.
A search of the vehicle revealed a substance that tested positive for both cocaine and fentanyl.
Mitchell was transported to the Northern State Correctional Facility, where he was lodged on his warrant. He was also issued a citation to appear in court at a later date for the narcotics offenses.
