BROWNINGTON — The Old Stone House Museum & Historic Village enters its centennial year with a leadership transition, as Derby native Krista Barry assumes the executive director role while former director Molly Veysey returns in a new capacity.

Barry, who brings extensive museum experience from institutions across the country, stepped into leadership last June as interim director when Veysey took leave to address a family crisis. Previously director of development and communications, Barry’s effective management during the transition led to her permanent appointment.

“I am honored to continue leading the Old Stone House Museum & Historic Village at this exciting time,” Barry said. “This year marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Old Stone House Museum—a testament to the community’s dedication to preserving the history of Orleans County.”

Before joining the Brownington museum, Barry worked at institutions in Wisconsin, Illinois and Colorado, including serving as director of the Lafayette History Museum. Her background includes expertise in archaeology, art history and museology.

Veysey, who led the museum for seven years before stepping away, has returned as special projects manager. “I am filled with hope for the future of the Old Stone House Museum & Historic Village,” Veysey said. “While I had to step away for personal reasons, I knew the museum was in the best of hands with Krista at the helm.”
