WAWARSING — Troopers responded to a panic alarm at Stewart’s Shop, located at 6331 Route 209 in the Town of Wawarsing, at approximately 10:58 p.m. on Feb. 17.
The preliminary investigation determined that a male suspect entered the store armed with a firearm.
The suspect, described as wearing a gray hoodie, dark pants, white sneakers, and a blue ski mask, approached a female employee, pointed the weapon at her back, and demanded money, threatening harm if she did not comply.
The suspect fled the store shortly thereafter.
On Feb. 19, troopers located and arrested Thomas E. Miller, 55, of Kerhonkson.
Miller was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He was arraigned in Ulster County CAP Court and remanded to Ulster County Jail with bail set at $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
