OSWEGATCHIE — State Police responded to a serious personal injury accident at approximately 12:08 p.m. on Feb. 21 on State Highway 68 in the town of Oswegatchie.
An investigation determined that a blue 2019 Ford F-150, driven by 58-year-old Deuard D. Vanornum of Heuvelton, was traveling southeast on State Highway 68 when it veered from its lane into oncoming traffic.
The vehicle collided head-on with a red 2011 Town and Country minivan driven by 35-year-old Airaca J. Gagnon of Ogdensburg.
Both Vanornum and Gagnon sustained injuries and were airlifted to the University of Vermont Medical Center for further medical evaluation.
New York State Police were assisted at the scene by Heuvelton Fire and Rescue, Ogdensburg Fire and Rescue, Lisbon Rescue, Morristown Rescue, St. Lawrence County Car 9, and the New York State Department of Transportation.
The investigation is ongoing.
