STAMFORD — A former Stamford resident was sentenced Tuesday to 320 months in federal prison for recording his sexual abuse of a minor.

Servio Barros-Terreros, 58, a citizen of Ecuador, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny.

According to court documents, in December 2022, a minor female victim reported that Barros-Terreros had sexually assaulted her multiple times when she was 9 and 10 years old.

She told authorities that he took sexually explicit pictures of her and threatened to publish them and show them to her mother if she told anyone.

He also instructed the victim to undress during video calls while he engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

On Jan. 12, 2023, Stamford police arrested Barros-Terreros on state sexual assault and risk of injury charges and seized his iPhone.

A forensic analysis of the phone revealed sexually explicit images of the victim, along with images of Barros-Terreros engaging in sexual acts with her.

Barros-Terreros has been in custody since his arrest.

He pleaded guilty to production of child pornography in federal court on March 5.

Following his prison sentence, Barros-Terreros faces immigration proceedings.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Stamford Police Department.

It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel E. Cummings with assistance from the Office of the State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Stamford-Norwalk.

The case is part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood Initiative, which targets child sexual exploitation and abuse.
