CANTON — A 46-year-old man was arrested on charges of criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and endangering the welfare of a child following a domestic dispute in the town of Canton.
The incident began on Feb. 18 at approximately 1:58 p.m. when troopers responded to Country Route 27 for a report of a physical domestic dispute.
An investigation revealed that Todd D. Stiles of Canton was involved in a verbal argument with a child, which escalated into physical violence.
Stiles allegedly placed his hands around the child’s throat, applying pressure, and then threw the child off a stool while still holding the child’s neck.
The victim managed to escape and went outside to wait for police to arrive.
Stiles agreed to leave the residence while troopers conducted their investigation.
On Feb. 19, he was arrested and taken to SP Canton for processing.
Stiles was arraigned in the Town of Canton Court and released on his own recognizance.
An order of protection was issued for the victim.
