SPRING VALLEY — A body was discovered inside an abandoned commercial property in Spring Valley on Wednesday, prompting a homicide investigation and an arrest.
At about 10 a.m. on Feb. 19, a Spring Valley police officer on routine patrol was flagged down by a pedestrian who reported finding a body at 10 Centre Street.
Officers responded and found an unresponsive adult male, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
As the investigation progressed, authorities determined the death was a homicide.
Later that evening, Christian Guzman-Loera, 26, of Spring Valley, was arrested and charged with one count of murder in the second degree under New York Penal Law 125.25.
Guzman-Loera was arraigned Thursday morning in Spring Valley Justice Court by Judge Mellion and remanded to the Rockland County Jail.
The Spring Valley Police Department thanked multiple agencies for their assistance.
Authorities are still seeking information related to the case.
