MALTA — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fight in progress on Sunset Gulch in Malta on Wednesday at 12:10 a.m.

Deputies arrested Margaret A. Zuk, 57, of Malta, on charges of second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both class D felonies.

Zuk is accused of stabbing a person known to her in the chest, causing physical injury.

She is also accused of unlawfully possessing a dangerous instrument with the intent to use it against another person.

Authorities said the charge was upgraded to a felony due to Zuk having a prior criminal conviction.

She was arraigned before Judge Ellwood A. Sloat Jr. in Malta Town Court and was remanded to the Saratoga County Jail pending further proceedings.

The victim was taken by Malta-Stillwater EMS to Albany Medical Center, where they were listed in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
