WILTON — A Wilton man was arrested and charged with possessing and distributing child sexual abuse images after an investigation by local authorities, police said.
Wilton police said in a press release that they were notified on Feb. 15, 2024, by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a case referral.
After an investigation, police determined that Joshua Ellis, of 36 Proctor Road in Wilton, had been in possession of and was distributing child sexual abuse images.
Ellis was taken into custody without incident at his residence on Feb. 14.
Police said Ellis was in possession of more than 70 photos and videos. However, for judicial efficiency, he was charged with 10 counts of child sexual abuse images.
Ellis appeared before the 9th Circuit Court for arraignment Tuesday, Feb. 18.
Not guilty pleas were entered, and he was ordered held on preventive detention.
