Salamanca police report multiple accidents, arrests

SALAMANCA — Salamanca Police responded to multiple accidents and made several arrests between Feb. 12 and Feb. 18, according to the department’s latest police blotter.

On Feb. 12, a 39-year-old bicyclist failed to yield the right of way to traffic, causing property damage and injury.

The bicyclist was cited for failing to use the bicycle lane, having inadequate lights, failing to yield, improper hand signaling, and not having a bell or signal device on the bicycle.

On Feb. 13, police investigated a hit-and-run accident on Main Street, where an unoccupied parked vehicle was struck.

Information was later obtained, and the matter was handled civilly.

On Feb. 14, a two-car accident occurred in the Rite-Aid parking lot.

Information was exchanged, and the matter will be handled through insurance.

That same day, a pedestrian accident occurred on Messenger Street.

A 32-year-old male pedestrian declined additional medical treatment and walked away from the scene.

On Feb. 15, a 36-year-old Salamanca resident was issued a citation for operating an uninspected motor vehicle following a traffic stop on Broad Street.

The motorist is scheduled to appear in Salamanca City Court at a later date.

On Feb. 16, police reported a multi-vehicle accident in the Sanders Parkview Supermarket parking lot.

An unoccupied vehicle was struck, and information was exchanged for insurance purposes.

Also on Feb. 16, Donielle Storey, 32, of Olean, was taken into custody on an outstanding bench warrant from Salamanca City Court.

Storey was processed and issued an appearance ticket for a future court date.

Additionally, officers responded to a one-car accident on Interstate 86 westbound.

The vehicle sustained only property damage and was able to drive away from the scene.

On Feb. 17, Patricia Crowe, 49, of Salamanca, was taken into custody on two bench warrants from Salamanca City Court.

Crowe was processed and issued an appearance ticket for a future court date.

That same day, Michael Hale Jr., 45, of Salamanca, was taken into custody on a bench warrant out of Salamanca City Court.

He was processed and issued an appearance ticket.

On Feb. 18, Christopher Rose, 27, of Olean, was taken into custody on four outstanding arrest warrants from Salamanca for misapplication of property.

Rose was processed and issued an appearance ticket for a future arraignment.
