Bath traffic stop leads to drug possession arrests

BATH — A traffic stop in Bath on Feb. 16 at approximately 10:39 p.m. led to the arrests of two individuals on drug-related charges, according to New York State Police.

A state trooper initiated the stop on East William Street for traffic violations.

The Bath Police Department arrived to assist during the investigation.

The driver was identified as Joseph L. Burleson, 60, of Savona.

Two passengers were also in the vehicle.

The front passenger was identified as Robert E. Wright, 42, of Campbell, and the rear passenger as Terry L. Bulkley, 44, of Bath.

During the stop, drug paraphernalia was observed on the floorboard as Wright exited the vehicle.

Authorities also found additional drugs in the vehicle and on his person.

A search recovered 1 gram of suspected methamphetamine crystal, methamphetamine residue, Suboxone tablets without a prescription, digital scales, and other drug paraphernalia.

Wright was taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and criminal use of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.

Bulkley was found to have an active warrant from the Corning Police Department and was taken into custody.

Both individuals were transported to SP Bath for processing and were taken to the Steuben County Jail for arraignment in CAP Court on Feb. 17 at 8:30 a.m.
