GALWAY — The Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company and Galway Volunteer Fire Company were on standby for the Walleye Challenge on the Great Sacandaga Lake on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Their presence was intended to ensure a quick response to any emergency rescue needs during the event.
At approximately 4:45 p.m., first responders were alerted by the Sacandaga Boat Club about two disabled snowmobiles off the lake in whiteout conditions.
The individuals were located about half a mile from the boat club.
All involved were safely brought back to the boat club.
No injuries were reported.
