SPRINGFIELD — On Feb. 13 at approximately 7:00 a.m., members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU), alongside Massachusetts State Police VFAS and the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, arrested 33-year-old Artwain Davis and recovered an illegal firearm, drugs, and cash during a raid at an East Park Street apartment.
The FIU, under the direction of Lieutenant Jaime Bruno, had been investigating Davis and obtained a search warrant for his apartment.
During the execution of the warrant, Davis was detained, and a large capacity firearm was found on a bed.
Authorities also seized 50 bags of heroin, nine bags of crack cocaine, and one bag of powder cocaine weighing approximately 24 grams.
Additionally, 144 rounds of loose ammunition and nearly $1,500 in cash were recovered.
Davis faces multiple charges, including convicted felon in possession of a firearm, firearm violation with three prior violent or drug crimes, cocaine trafficking, and possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug as a subsequent offense.
He is also charged with improper storage of a large capacity firearm and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
