Boat fire in Williamsburg draws multiple departments to scene

1 min read

WILLIAMSBURG — On Feb. 12, shortly after 5 p.m., the Williamsburg Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the area of Depot Road following reports of heavy black smoke.

As units were leaving the station, they could see the smoke rising in the distance.

Crews quickly arrived at the scene and found a large, fully engulfed boat fire.

Due to the remote location of the fire, the Goshen Fire Department was requested for mutual aid with a tanker to assist with the water supply.

Williamsburg Engine 2 and Engine 4 arrived on the scene and managed to quickly bring the fire under control.

Crews remained on the scene for about an hour and a half, conducting overhaul operations on the boat.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s office.
