STAMFORD — A major narcotics and weapons arrest was made following an investigation by the Narcotics & Organized Crime Unit.

The suspect, Cabrinie “Dread” Barnes, was targeted for fentanyl and cocaine sales in the area.

On Feb. 7, detectives set up surveillance at 30 Peak Street in preparation for executing search warrants.

Barnes exited his residence wearing a backpack and attempted to flee when approached by detectives.

He discarded the backpack while running but was apprehended on Alpine Street.

A search of the backpack revealed 38.7 grams of loose fentanyl, 10 grams of powder cocaine, 88 grams of marijuana, various illicit pills including MDMA, amphetamines, oxycodone and alprazolam, as well as packaging materials, a scale and $60 in cash.

A subsequent search of Barnes’ residence uncovered a loaded .357 revolver, ammunition, large quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and prescription drugs.

Investigators also found drug ledgers, a pill press, vacuum sealers, body armor and $8,000 in cash.

The operation resulted in the removal of dangerous narcotics and an illegal firearm from the streets.
