Police investigate potential pipe bomb in Watertown

WATERTOWN — On Feb. 10, Watertown Police responded to the area of Sperry Road and Lake Winnemaug Road for the report of a potential “pipe bomb” being found in a detached shed.

Police have determined that the unknown object cannot be identified.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad is responding to assist in identification and disposal of the object.

The property in question is a safe distance away from nearby homes.

The area of Sperry Road at Lake Winnemaug Road will be closed pending this investigation.
