ST. ALBANS — The St. Albans Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in two separate incidents of fraudulent purchases at local hardware stores.
On Feb. 6 at 9:05 a.m., police received a report of a fraudulent purchase of tools from Sticks and Stuff.
A white male, approximately 25-30 years old, allegedly entered the store and charged tools to a business account without authorization.
A similar incident occurred on Feb. 3 at Ace Hardware in St. Albans, where a male matching the same description also charged tools to an account he had no authority to use.
Both cases are currently under investigation.
The St. Albans Police Department has released pictures of the suspect and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
In light of these incidents, the department is reminding local businesses to verify the identification of individuals using charge accounts in their stores to prevent unauthorized purchases.
