MILFORD — On Dec. 16, 2024, the Milford Police Detective Bureau concluded an investigation into the sale of high-end counterfeit goods, seizing over 1,200 items with an approximate retail value of $200,000.
The investigation revealed that the owner of Family Sneaker House in Milford had been purchasing counterfeit sneakers and clothing from a Chinese distributor via wire transfer for resale to the public.
Milford Chief of Police Robert Tusino stated, “While this was not a traditional crime indicative of our community, it’s important to realize these types of operations are not just taking billions away from these big corporations but more importantly, money out of the wallets of hard-working people.”
In a letter to the Milford Police Department, Andrea Powers, president of Powers & Associates, commended the efforts of Detective Lieutenant Kevin O’Loughlin, Detective Elias Giokas, and Detective Thomas Leung on behalf of Nike Inc., Louis Vuitton North America, Gucci America Inc., and Adidas International Inc.
Individuals who purchased sneakers from Family Sneaker House, located at 161 Main St. in Milford, are urged to bring their receipts to the police department.
