ROYALTON — A head-on crash involving two vehicles occurred on VT Route 14 near Vesper Road at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, resulting in suspected injuries and an arrest for suspected impairment.
Vermont State Police from the Royalton Barracks responded to the scene where they discovered the two vehicles with significant front-end damage.
The first vehicle, a 2017 Volvo XC60, driven by 52-year-old Peter B.
Sheridan from Marblehead, MA, collided with a 2011 Nissan Rogue operated by Patricia M.
Doyle, 59, of South Royalton.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident, which happened during snowy conditions, leaving the road covered and slick.
During the investigation, troopers observed signs of impairment from Sheridan.
He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
After processing at the Royalton Barracks, Sheridan was released on a citation to answer to the charge of DUI – Drug.
The suspected injuries were not detailed in the report, but both drivers were transported to Gifford Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.
The incident is still under investigation by the Vermont State Police.
