Pownal man faces multiple assault charges, held without bail

POWNAL — A Pownal man was arrested on charges of first degree aggravated domestic assault among other violations, Vermont State Police reported on Jan. 31.

Robert J. Love, 47, of Pownal, turned himself in to authorities after being accused of committing three counts of first degree aggravated domestic assault, unlawful restraint in the first degree, and interference with access to emergency services.

Police were dispatched to interview a victim of prior domestic assault at a Main Street location at 9:32 a.m., where they observed multiple signs of bodily injury.

Following the investigation, Love surrendered to the State Police at the Shaftsbury Barracks later that evening.

He was processed and subsequently transported to Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility.

Love is currently being held without bail pending further proceedings.

The Vermont State Police have not released the name of the victim, adhering to policies regarding incidents of sexual assault and domestic violence.

Further details on the case are pending as the investigation continues.
