Plymouth police seek new facility amid safety, space concerns

1 min read

PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Police Department has publicly acknowledged the need for a new home due to significant space constraints and safety issues at its current facility.

A virtual tour released this morning highlights the challenges officers and staff are facing, including the juggling of equipment, repurposing of rooms, and the dual or triple use of spaces that can sometimes present safety risks.

The department emphasized that its current conditions are not only affecting the morale of its police force but also impact the service provided to community members.

The police department serves as a home base for officers and a point of service for residents, who are entitled to a professional, safe, and private environment.

Residents have been invited to visit the existing police facility, take a tour, and engage with police personnel to understand the pressing inadequacies.

The department is eager to answer questions and provide more information as they advocate for a new and improved police headquarters.

In a gesture of transparency and community engagement, the Plymouth Police Department extended gratitude to Owen Kingsley of WFSB – Channel 3 Eyewitness News for covering the story and visiting the department.

They look forward to further discussions with the Plymouth community.
