WESTON — A 15-year-old male has been charged in connection with a bomb threat at Weston High School, law enforcement officials announced Jan. 31.

The incident occurred Jan. 23 when Weston Police Department received reports around 9:30 a.m. from school officials about several messages on social media indicating the presence of an explosive device and threatening a teacher at the school.

Responding officers implemented safety protocols, which included keeping students in their classrooms until the premises were cleared.

The investigation revealed the teacher mentioned in the threat was actually affiliated with Weston High School in Connecticut.

Connecticut authorities were alerted and took protective measures for the school and the individual, both of whom were found to be safe.

Detective Lieutenant Michael Forti stated that the Massachusetts and Connecticut police departments, alongside the FBI, traced the IP address of the suspect to a Massachusetts resident who does not live in Weston.

The juvenile has been charged with making a threat concerning the location of a dangerous item and is awaiting proceedings in the Juvenile Court System.
