SOMERVILLE — In a swift response to a bank robbery at East Cambridge Savings Bank on Highland Avenue, Somerville Police apprehended a suspect after a taxi chase on Jan. 22.
At approximately 12:46 p.m., officers were dispatched to the bank following a robbery report.
They received a description of the suspect who had fled the scene by taxi.
Police successfully located the taxi and made a traffic stop, identifying and arresting the suspect.
A knife and $80 were recovered from the cab, believed to be linked to the robbery.
Earlier that day, at around 11:27 a.m., officers responded to a commercial break-in on Grove Street.
The business manager reported a kicked-in office door and a missing coffee maker.
Another break-in occurred on Jan. 26, when housing officers were called to a residence on Warren Avenue at about 5:35 p.m.
The resident reported missing items, including pants, blank checks, and cash after returning from running errands.
In addition to these incidents, Somerville Police noted a spate of other crimes, including two motor vehicle vandalisms, a package theft, a car break-in, and a motor vehicle theft.
The department is actively investigating all reported incidents and encourages the public to come forward with any information.
