REDDING — A home invasion in Redding led to the arrest of a 29-year-old Ansonia man, after a resident reported a masked intruder in their bedroom early Friday morning.
The Redding Police Department said they received a 911 call around 2 a.m. from a homeowner on Sport Hill Road.
The caller managed to fend off the assailant, who then escaped the property.
Responding officers, including those from a nearby traffic detail, were dispatched to the residence and found an abandoned vehicle in the vicinity, which was later confirmed to belong to the suspect.
The homeowner and another occupant were found unharmed.
Police located the suspect, Troi Barnes, two houses away from the initial scene and apprehended him without further incident.
Barnes faces multiple charges, including home invasion, burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, threatening, reckless endangerment, and an attempt of sexual assault.
Currently held on a $1 billion bond, Barnes is expected to appear at Danbury Superior Court for arraignment later today.
Authorities stated the incident appears to be isolated and emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Redding Police also extended their gratitude to the Norwalk Police Department and the Easton Police Department for their assistance in the case.
Captain Timothy Succi of the Redding Police Department is overseeing the investigation.
