MORGAN — A snowmobile crash on VAST Trail 2001 left a 46-year-old Morgan man with major injuries.
Gerald Dagesse Jr. was operating his 2021 Polaris Axys eastbound when he hit a tree stump after cresting a knoll around 6:21 p.m., according to Vermont State Police.
Despite wearing a helmet, Dagesse was thrown from his vehicle which sustained a small dent on the front right ski arm.
Dagesse was initially taken to North Country Hospital.
Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later airlifted to UVM Medical Center.
His injuries are deemed major but not life-threatening.
The trail was reportedly groomed and conditions were clear at the time of the accident.
Responding to the scene were Newport Ambulance and Derby Line Fire Department, aiding in the emergency response and transportation of the injured snowmobiler.
