KILLINGTON — A local man faces charges after allegedly attempting to sell stolen snowboarding equipment on Facebook Marketplace, the Killington Police Department reported Monday.
On Dec. 16, Darkside Snowboards notified the police about a Facebook post advertising a brand new Volcom snowboarding jacket with its sales tag still attached.
The item was reported stolen from the store in August.
Store staff identified the Facebook account as belonging to Jason Sasbon, 48, of Killington, a frequent visitor to the shop.
Police investigation revealed that Sasbon listed not only the jacket on the online marketplace but also its unique SKU number, which matched the store’s inventory records.
Despite multiple attempts to contact Sasbon at his home and through phone calls, which went unanswered, authorities were unable to speak with him regarding the allegations.
The Killington Police Department has submitted an arrest warrant application for Sasbon to the Rutland County State’s Attorney’s office.
Patrol Officer C. DeLorenzo is leading the ongoing investigation.
