BOSTON — A routine traffic stop in Dorchester late Thursday night led to the recovery of a stolen firearm and the arrest of two individuals on gun-related charges, Boston Police reported.
Officers from District B-3 in Mattapan initiated the stop at approximately 9:12 p.m. at the intersection of Park St. and Washington St. after observing a vehicle with excessively tinted windows.
When the car hesitated to comply, a brief pursuit ensued until the vehicle came to a halt at Park St. and Alpha Rd.
The driver, identified as Paulino Barros, 33, of Holbrook, and his passengers, including a 14-year-old male, were approached by police.
The situation escalated when the juvenile attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended.
A Black Ops Para 1911 semi-automatic pistol, loaded with eight rounds, was found on his person during a frisk.
The weapon was later confirmed to be stolen.
District B-3 Detectives took over the investigation, and the vehicle was searched, towed, and all occupants were safely secured.
Barros and the juvenile were transported to District 3 for booking.
Both are slated to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on several charges.
Barros faces counts of obstructed windows and failure to stop for police.
The juvenile faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, and receiving stolen property (firearm).
