NORWALK — Moises Ruiz, a 37-year-old Norwalk resident, was arrested on charges of sexual assault and risk of injury to minors after a multi-state investigation, police said.
The Norwalk Police Department Special Victims Unit initiated an investigation on Nov. 23 into allegations made through a complaint from the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.
Detective English led the investigation, uncovering evidence that Ruiz had inappropriate contact with multiple juvenile victims.
Stamford Superior Court subsequently issued an arrest warrant.
Ruiz was located in Gwinnett County, Georgia, by the United States Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Task Force, which includes a Norwalk Police Officer, and was taken into custody on Jan. 15.
Special Victims Unit Detectives then traveled to Georgia to extradite Ruiz back to Norwalk on Jan. 28.
Ruiz, who resides on the first floor at 19 Cliff Street, faces two counts of sexual assault in the fourth degree and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.
His bond has been set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 29.
