WETHERSFIELD — A joint investigation by the Wethersfield and West Hartford Police Departments led to the arrest of a Middletown man in connection with the theft of books worth an estimated $5,600 from the Wethersfield Public Library.
Levi Preston, 50, was taken into custody on Jan. 28 after a warrant was issued by the New Britain Superior Court.
The Wethersfield Police Department reported that the library’s director made the initial theft report on Dec. 11, triggering the investigation.
Preston, identified as the suspect in the case, is now facing charges of Larceny in the Third Degree.
Following his arrest, he was released on a $1,000 Non-Surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 18.
The successful apprehension of the suspect was the result of collaborative police work between the two departments.
