1 min read

WEBSTER — A Webster man has been charged with a slew of firearms and drug offenses following a non-fatal shooting incident that occurred last October.

On Oct. 5, officers and detectives from the Webster Police Department responded to a shooting on Maynard Ave.

A search warrant executed at the scene led to the discovery of two illegally possessed firearms, high capacity magazines, various ammunition, and a quantity of cocaine.

In the ensuing months, Sergeant Mroczek, Officer Blomgren, Officer Johnson, and Detectives Whiting & Hamm interviewed several witnesses.

Their investigation culminated in Officer Johnson obtaining an arrest warrant for 24-year-old Jose Lozada Jr. from the Dudley District Court on Nov. 23.

Massachusetts State Troopers assigned to the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section apprehended Lozada Jr. in Worcester on Dec. 4.

He was then arraigned at the Dudley District Court on multiple charges including discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, trafficking 18 to 36 grams of cocaine, possession of a Class B drug, and various firearms and ammunition offenses.

Initially held following a dangerousness hearing, Lozada Jr. was intended to be detained for 120 days.

However, on Dec. 13, a Superior Court Judge set his bail at $2,500, after which he was released.
