GEORGIA — A series of collisions on Interstate 89 Southbound led to multiple minor injuries and a temporary shutdown of the highway on Jan. 28.

The Vermont State Police reported a two-vehicle crash near mile marker 111.6 at 4:55 p.m., where drivers Pamela McKenzie, 63, of Colchester, and Dennis Schut, 30, of Burlington, were involved.

Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident.

While the St Albans Fire Department was attending to the initial crash, a subsequent collision occurred involving a fire truck and vehicles operated by Jonathan Bowser, 44, of Swanton, and Shuaib Mohamud, 21, of St Albans.

Multiple individuals, including the vehicle operators, were transported to Northwestern Medical Center in St Albans for treatment of suspected minor injuries.

The southbound lanes of I-89 were closed for about an hour and a half for cleanup and investigation, causing significant traffic delays.

The road has since been reopened to regular traffic.

The Vermont State Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the causes of the accidents.
