FRANKLIN — After receiving a distress call about a possible person falling through the ice at Beaver Pond, emergency responders from the Franklin Police and Fire Departments launched an immediate search operation today at around 2:30 p.m.

The call, reported by a concerned driver on 495, prompted the Metro East Communication Center to dispatch rescue teams to the scene.

An extensive investigation was carried out, including the use of drones and specialized cold-water rescue units to scour the area thoroughly.

Despite the initial report, the search yielded no evidence of anyone having fallen through the ice.

Following a comprehensive examination of the pond and surrounding area, incident command was terminated.

Officials from the Franklin Police Department are urging the public to educate themselves on the dangers of ice and to always check ice thickness before venturing onto frozen water bodies, to prevent any potential accidents or false alarms.
