Driver arrested on suspicion of DUI after crash in Orange

ORANGE — A single-vehicle crash on VT Rt. 302 led to the arrest of a local man for suspected impaired driving on Jan. 28.

Vermont State Police reported that at 5:20 p.m., they responded to a crash involving a 2011 GMC Sierra.

The driver, identified as 59-year-old John Sousa of Orange, was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the incident.

According to authorities, Sousa showed several signs of impairment at the scene.

Following an investigation, he was taken into custody under suspicion of operating the vehicle under the influence of intoxicants.

Sousa was transported to the Vermont State Police barracks in Berlin for processing.

He was later released with a citation to appear in Orange County Superior Court to face charges related to the incident.

There were no reported injuries, and road conditions were dry despite cloudy weather.

The Vermont State Police continue to investigate the crash.
