DANBY — Following an autopsy performed over the weekend at the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington, officials have identified 81-year-old Charles Wrobel as the victim of a house fire that occurred on Friday morning.
The Vermont State Police is leading the investigation into the fire that was reported at a home on Old Otis Road in Danby at about 7:25 a.m. First responders from the Danby and Tinmouth fire departments discovered Wrobel’s body inside the residence at 3111 Old Otis Rd.
Upon locating the body, fire crews requested assistance from detectives with the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations and the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit.
An autopsy was subsequently ordered to confirm the victim’s identity and to determine the cause and manner of death.
While the investigation into the fire’s origin and Wrobel’s death is still underway, authorities have stated that there are currently no indications of suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
