Caribou police track footprints to suspect’s door, make arrests

CARIBOU — A call about suspicious footprints led Caribou police to arrest two individuals, including one for burglary, on Jan. 24.

At approximately 10 a.m., Sgt. Chad Cochran responded to a report of unusual footprints at a McKinley Street residence, discovering a burglary had occurred in the garage.

Utilizing his investigative experience, Sgt.

Cochran traced the prints to a front door on Sweden Street.

After confirming the theft with the McKinley Street homeowner, Cochran obtained a search warrant for the Sweden Street residence.

With the warrant signed, officers attempted to contact the occupants.

When no one answered, they made a forced entry into the home.

Tiffany Soucy, 31, was arrested at the scene and charged with burglary (Class C), theft with priors (Class C), and criminal mischief (Class D).

She is being held pending a March 6 court appearance.

Additionally, Justin Murphy, 40, was taken into custody on unrelated charges.

The Caribou Police Department expressed gratitude to the alert citizen who reported the suspicious activity, highlighting the importance of community cooperation.

They also extended thanks to the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police for their support in executing the search warrant.

Officer Doug Bell and Sgt. Keith Ouellette were acknowledged for their assistance at the scene.
