HOLYOKE — Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan announced the seizure of an illegal firearm and the arrests of two suspects following a disturbance call on Sunday.
Around 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 26, officers responded to the 100 block of Chestnut Street, where they located a suspect vehicle containing three individuals: driver Shyloe Harris, passenger Michael Bedinelli, and a juvenile.
Harris was allegedly threatening the victims with a firearm, prompting the police response.
After conducting a traffic stop, officers searched the suspects and discovered a loaded firearm in Bedinelli’s pants.
Harris was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without a license and threatening to commit a crime.
Bedinelli faced multiple firearms charges.
The juvenile was released to his mother.
Chief Keenan praised the officers’ actions, stating, “Both these suspects are well-known in Springfield, and I applaud our officers for de-escalating a dangerous situation, seizing an illegal firearm and taking these suspects into custody.
We will not tolerate illegal firearms in our city.”
Michael Bedinelli, 25, of Springfield, faces charges including possession of a firearm without an FID card, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
Shyloe Harris, 24, also from Springfield, has been charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and threatening to commit a crime.
