CARIBOU — The Caribou Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating three stolen snowmobiles and identifying the owner of a sweatshirt left at the scene.

According to authorities, the theft was reported recently after the snowmobiles, a white 1989 Polaris 400, a red 1990 Polaris 400, and a red 1991 Polaris 340, were taken from a storage unit.

The Caribou PD released a statement emphasizing the need for any information that could lead to the recovery of the vehicles and the apprehension of the suspects involved.

In a new development, investigators found a sweatshirt at the scene of the crime and are seeking to identify its owner.

The Caribou Police Department has shared an image of the garment, asking the community if anyone recognizes the sweatshirt and knows who wears it frequently.

The department reassured the public that a cat seen in one of the photos taken at the scene is unharmed.

Residents with any information regarding the stolen snowmobiles, the sweatshirt, or the individual(s) involved in the theft are encouraged to contact the Caribou Police Department at 207-493-3301 or Aroostook Crime Stoppers.

Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward if their information leads to an arrest.
