WARWICK — A Warwick man was arrested Tuesday on a Superior Court bench warrant after state troopers assisted a disabled tractor-trailer on Interstate 95.
Brendan Handfield, 50, of 45 Algonquin Drive, was taken into custody at 5:56 p.m. for failure to appear for restitution on an original charge of insurance fraud, according to Rhode Island State Police.
Troopers discovered the outstanding warrant while assisting the disabled vehicle on I-95 South in Warwick.
Handfield was transported to the Wickford Barracks for processing before being transferred to the Adult Correctional Institution’s Men’s Intake.
In a separate incident, state police arrested Anthony Ramos, 29, of Providence, at 1:24 a.m. Wednesday in North Kingstown.
Ramos faces charges of obtaining money under false pretenses, passing counterfeit certificates, bills, or notes, and forgery and counterfeiting.
The arrest stemmed from a barracks investigation and assistance from the Providence Police Department in locating the suspect.
Ramos was held overnight at the Wickford Barracks pending morning arraignment.
