Bristol man faces weapons, drug charges after traffic stop

BRISTOL — A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a local man on multiple charges, including possession of a stolen firearm and drugs early Wednesday morning, the Bristol Police Department reported.

Shawn Rodriguez of Bristol was pulled over by BPD Patrol Officers at around 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 15, for a vehicle violation on Pine Street.

During the stop, officers observed an improperly stored firearm inside Rodriguez’s vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that the firearm was stolen.

A search of the vehicle also uncovered ammunition, a large capacity magazine, and marijuana packaged for sale.

Rodriguez has been charged with stealing a firearm, improper storage of a pistol/revolver, illegal possession of a high capacity magazine, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a controlled substance, and failure to display lights.

After posting bond, Rodriguez is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 29.

The Bristol Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
