ANDOVER — A 17-year-old driver lost his life after his vehicle crashed into a drainage ditch in Andover late Sunday night.
State Troopers from Troop D barracks responded at 11:53 p.m. on Jan. 12 to a report of a truck submerged in water off Currier Road.
The East Andover Fire Department also arrived at the scene, where they found the truck fully submerged and extracted the sole occupant, later identified as Wyatt Carleton of Andover, who was confirmed deceased.
The initial investigation indicated that Carleton was driving a 2010 Gray Nissan Frontier pickup westbound on Currier Road when the vehicle left the roadway to the left as it crossed over a culvert.
The truck flipped over the edge and landed upside down in the drainage ditch.
Evidence suggested the vehicle may have slid on the ice-covered road for several hundred feet before the accident occurred.
Troopers are continuing to investigate all factors contributing to the crash.
The road remained closed for about three hours while the scene was examined.
Troopers from Troop D received assistance from the East Andover and Franklin Fire Departments.
Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information that could help the investigation to contact Trooper Conor Davis at [email protected].
